Forrest Fotography and a bit about my photographic journey

my story

After discovering my family's broken SLR camera, a lifelong unschooler, I began exploring and learning the manual components that remained. In a very short time, I had mastered the camera and was snapping beauty everywhere! After a manual SLR course honed my skills and I was gifted a new camera, my camera bag was never far away. Finding inspiration in nature, my photography captures the beauty and wonder around me. I also enjoy 'free lens' nature photography and catching spontaneous moments in time that tell a story. I hope these images speak to you and perhaps stir a memory in your heart.

    What is cyanotype

    cyanotype printing!

Cyanotype printing is a photography printing method from the 1800s that uses the sun and iron salts to create a vibrant, deep cyan image. However, the method has changed over the years to be more accessible  to all.

    the dyeing process

With cyanotype, since it's a natural art, you can dye it with many different things like wine, beets, green tea and London fog! It's a super interesting process that gives you so much creative liberty.

    Thanks for listening!

If you have found this interesting, then I suggest looking at the lovely videos on how to make your own print!   This lovely video by  Kyle William shows you a quick way to make a print of a negative!  https://youtube.com/shorts/PVEJISU3KVk?si=-om7QTeXP0pE8eUY
